Raising money for Shelter?

There are many ways you can raise money at this event. Here’s some ideas:

  • Ask for your friends and family to donate to attend your event
  • Make food packages to deliver to your community and ask them to donate to your page
  • Play games at your event to encourage donations
  • Share the recipe stories with friends and family and encourage them to donate more to Shelter

You can always check out our fundraising guide here

There’s no minimum sponsorship for this event, but it would be incredible if you can aim to raise £150. This will help fund the fight for home.

Sending donations to Shelter

Online Donations

Your fundraising page is where your guests can donate online. All donations will be sent to Shelter automatically.

Offline Donations

You can collect donations offline, but please don’t send us cash through the post.

Instead, make cheques out to ‘Shelter’ and send them to:

Community Fundraising Team Shelter, 88 Old Street, London, EC1V 9HU

Make sure you include:

  • Any original sponsorship forms you’ve used. This is so we can claim Gift Aid on your donations at no extra cost to your sponsors.
  • A note with your name, address, postcode, and some details of your event. This is to process your donation properly and send you a BIG thank you.

You can also make a bank transfer. To find the bank details email us on community@shelter.org.uk and we can support you straight away! When making a bank transfer make sure to use the reference 'CF+' to 'Recipe for Change + your name'

Gift Aid:

Please encourage your donors to include Gift Aid in their donations. It's a fantastic way to help us raise extra funds and be there for more people who are struggling with their housing.

Adding offline funds to you fundraising page?

We can support you with this – just email us at community@shelter.org.uk.

Covid-19 guidance and support?

To support making your event a virtual one - we have pulled together our top tips on page 3 of the guide here

Currently, there are no legal restrictions in England. However, Covid-19 continues to be a risk.

Please refer to the UK Government’s Coronavirus (Covid-19) guidance and support and Scottish Government guidance for covid-19 to stay safe during your event or if anyone starts developing Covid-19 symptoms.

We can also suggest plenty of alternative ideas to raise funds if any restrictions come back into place. Get in touch at community@shelter.org.uk.
